The Baytree Centre, a women’s social inclusion charity on Brixton Road, is taking part in Summer Give 2016, a campaign designed by The Childhood Trust to alleviate the impact of child poverty during the summer holidays.
It is an online “double your donation” campaign focussed on charities who are supporting London’s poorest children during the school holidays. The match funding to double donations comes from a combination of pledges and the Childhood Trust.
The Baytree Centre has been in Brixton for over 25 years, working with women and girls of the community through education and skills development programmes.
From 12pm on Monday 16th May to 12pm to Wednesday 18th May all donations to Baytree will be doubled. All this money is going towards their summer activities programme.
Baytree said: “Last year over 40 girls took part in our summer activities and this year we want to reach even more girls. We’ll be delivering a programme of trips, workshops, and activities, all chosen by the girls that attend Baytree.
“Our summer provision is accessed by some of Lambeth’s poorest children and we want to make sure that girls have a healthy meal and a great time and don’t have to spend the summers stuck at home because of a lack of funds.”
