Pop Brixton is one year old next month and is planning four days of celebration starting on Thursday 2 June:
THURSDAY: Pop Feast Birthday Special – eight-course tasting menu from contributors including Mama’s Jerk, Made Of Dough, Viet Box, Kricket and L’Amuse Bouche. Container Records, Reprezent Radio and BoomBocs on the decks with decorations by Restoration Brixton and Barnaby & Co. Servers will be clothed by Make Do and Mend, Afroretro and Queen Of The Harpies. Tickets £45.
FRIDAY: Prohibition Birthday Ball – Pop channels 1920s Chicago with Swing Patrol and The Shirt Tail Stompers and electro swing group Swingrowers. Free. 20s attire encouraged.
SATURDAY: One Year Here – a 12-hour live music event on a scale Pop has not seen before with afrobeat, hip-hop, jungle, dub and vinyl-spinning artists, including Rebel MC, Rodney P and Lazy Habits. £5 on the door. Limited number of £3 earlybird tickets from DesignMyNight.
SUNDAY: Shop ‘til You Pop Market – showcasing Pop’s shops. Clothing, accessories, furniture, beauty products, flowers and food will be on offer in a giant market in the site’s main square.
