A Brixton man, found guilty of rape after he dragged a woman into a secluded area and attacked her, was today (29 January) jailed for 12 years.
Bruno Andre Miguel Pereira, 21, of Kirkstall Road, was convicted at Inner London Crown Court in December.
Police were called to Tudor Close, Brixton Hill, at about 3am on Sunday, 2 August last year after a 27-year-old woman contacted emergency services, saying she had been attacked.
The London Ambulance Service was also called.
The woman told officers that she had been approached by a man, who she did not know, just before 2.45am by a bench in Tudor Close. The man then dragged her by the arm into a secluded area where he raped her.
She was taken to a Haven Sexual Assault Referral Centre; she did not require hospital treatment.
Detectives from the Sexual Offences, Exploitation and Child Abuse Command arrested Pereira, identified via DNA, on Tuesday, 11 August and he was charged on Sunday, 12 August.
