Young jewellery and fashion artists from Brixton’s Roupell Park Estate will be showcasing their work on Friday 29 May at the Roupell Park Community Centre.
The showcase is the first opportunity these young entrepreneurs, aged 18 to 30, have had to publicly display their work and attract potential customers. The young creatives have been supported by the Loughborough Be Enterprising (LBE) project, which offers young people in the area a free 6-week course in jewellery-making and fashion design.
The project is run by the London Youth Support Trust (LYST), with interactive workshops led by award-winning fashion designer Kimalie Darlington, owner of DK Darlington, and creative entrepreneur Nadia Banton, who runs jewellery business Trinkets Jewels.
Brixton Hill ward councillor Florence Eshalomi (nee Nosegbe) will be attending the event, alongside local entrepreneur Jade Castello, founder of Nalla Skincare Ltd, who will be offering samples of her luxury skincare products.
The LBE project has been running from January 2013 and has worked with over 100 young people so far.
