Jocelyn Brown should need no introduction. She made waves in the late 70’s and 80′ s with disco collective Chic and she brings her America flair to South London this weekend. With hits such as “Somebody Else’s Guy”, “Always There” and “I Want Your Love” this dance music queen will be rocking the crowd this weekend Sat 19 July at Lambeth Country Show. Brockwell Park just got very, very lucky.

Brixton Blog are so excited to see this dance legend perform and we asked her a few questions as a little taster…

How has it changed since you started performing?

It has gone from one extreme of music to another, such as drum and bass and garage now going back to the fun loving dance music we fell in love with.

The first song I sang Plato’s retreat produced by Greg Diamond.

Can we expect new material soon?

Working on some as we speak, yes.

Your voice has great soul, where do you draw your inspiration from when you make music?

From the Heavens, spirit, soul.

What are you looking forward to most about performing at Lambeth Country Show?

The atmosphere, the people a wonderful summer vibe and having a wonderful time with the audience.

What is your favourite Caribbean dish?

Curry goat and roti and fried plantain.

Which music do you like to listen to when you want to relax?

Latin and Brazilian music, a touch of Jazz, definitely gospel.

It’s a different part of the world which has a wonderful multi-cultural community and diversity.
