EDL. This usually hated acronym is being reclaimed…by disco music lovers. What better way to fight racism and islamaphobia than to take the micky out of it?
The English Disco Lovers (EDL) are reclaiming and redefining what the much hated EDL-acronym stands for. By using humour to subvert the three letters, drawing on the positivity of the Disco music genre and the history of Disco they are fighting back the English Defence League and everything it represents.
So what can you expect from and EDL night? The Electric Swing Circus will also be headlining the Summertime ball. They are a 6-piece fusion of saucy 20’s swing and stomping electro beats. With an explosive sound that reverberates back through time, the ESC hotfoot their way through everything from breakbeat and house to reggae and dubstep, all with their own unique style of swing. Their debut, self-titled album is available now on Ragtime Records.
