Detectives from Brixton are appealing for the public’s help in identifying a man who stole a bicycle and a tyre on Tuesday November 5 in Brixton.
A CCTV camera captured pictures of a man stealing a bike and the front wheel from a second bicycle from the rear of Lambeth town hall in Brixton.
The suspect can be seen entering into the rear car park of the town hall, Acre Lane, on foot at approximately 3.30pm. Moments later he can be seen riding out of the yard on a bike with a cycle tyre worth about £150 in his hand.

May I just say what a relief to discover a person that genuinely understands what they are talking about on

This crime merits internet coverage?
It might be useful for understanding the context if we could have a breakdown of the types of crimes committed in Brixton in the one month period prior to this incident.
Well, it was my wheel, from my beloved tandem cycle, which I take my daughter to school on every day, so yes I think it does. And of course, another colleague lost his bike, which he’d had for a number of years, and was rather attached to! I’m sure there are many more serious crimes that have been committed – but why do you object to this appeal? Hundreds of my colleagues cycle to work and park their bikes in this area, and all of us have been affected by this theft. If it deters future thefts, or helps catch this man, then, its worthwhile.
This article is no worse than all those stupid articles on here about some missing cat or dog.
The articles on the Bixton Blog website about missing dogs and cats are not ‘stupid’. They are merely a different way for distressed owners to get across a picture of their pet to people in their locality. It informs fellow residents/neighbours to check for any missing pet in garages, gardens, outdoor buildings etc and to report it if they do see a stray cat or dog. At the end of the day visitors to this website don’t have to open and read the article(s) if they think them to be ‘stupid’, never mind actually participating and leaving comments!
