A syrup company have recruited a top Brixton baker, Mary Clare, as part of their national campaign to encourage people to make traditional Christmas puddings.
The nationwide campaign from Tate and Lyle, named Bake, Eat and Be Mary, has recruited 100 Mary Christmases across Britain, including Brixton’s answer to Mary Berry – Mary Clare!
Cake-mad Clare, who works for Battersea-based Exploration Society when she isn’t stirring up puddings, is pictured right pulling a silly face and wearing a suitably sweet Christmas jumper.
Surveys shows that only 29 per cent of Londoners have ever made a Christmas pudding and 6 per cent believe Tequila is one of the key ingredients.
To mark the campaign Lyle has released a limited edition ‘Bake, Eat & Be Merry’ Lyle’s Golden Syrup tin.
