Have your say on regeneration of Lambeth Town Hall area

Screen Shot 2013-10-09 at 15.33.32Time is running out to have your say on proposals for a massive redevelopment around the Town Hall in central Brixton.

Residents only have until Friday to share their views of three different proposals for council offices, enterprise zones and housing on the site of current council buildings along Brixton Hill and Acre Lane.

Whichever is chosen, the regeneration will dramatically change the appearance in the town centre.  At a low-key event at the Ritzy cinema last week, Lambeth council unveiled proposals from developers Kajima, Muse and United House – and residents have only been given until this Friday (October 11) to have their say.

All three promise a comprehensive regeneration of the area, their proposals heavily influenced by the New Town for All report which you can read here, a key criteria being that the new development impact positively on local businesses and residents.

Most plans see the demolition of older council buildings like Hambrook House and Olive Morris, to be replaced by housing, with other parts of the Town Hall campus turned into a new civic centre.
