The alleyway underneath Herne Hill railway station is perhaps an unlikely place to stop and marvel at beautiful music.
But thanks to the installation of a “Street Piano” as part of the city of London festival, that’s exactly what locals have been doing.
One pianist in particular, featured below, has been drawing attention with his masterful performances at the keyboard while his BMX bike stands idly by.
The piano also formed part of the station’s 150th birthday celebrations, when a live pianist played a score for the silent film the General, starring Buster Keaton, on Saturday night. Dozens gathered as the film was screened onto the side of the century-and-a-half old building.
