Help needed for Herne Hill music festival

Renato D'Aillo is lined up to play this year's Herne Hill Festival in October

The musician behind Herne Hill’s very own music festival has appealed for music-lovers to come forward and help organise this year’s event.

The Herne Hill Music Festival will take place at various venues in October and include jazz, classical, and lighter genres.

The week of concerts and workshops is the brainchild of Alan Taylor, who is keen to build on the success of the inaugural festival last year.

He told the Blog today: “Last year I set it up pretty much single handed – and I learned a lot in the process.

“I had no idea whether anyone would turn up to our concerts but we proved that you can hold a classical-type thing in Herne Hill and get an audience.”

Taylor, who recently finished a music degree, said he no longer wants to be a “one man band,” and has decided to enlist a committee to help him create a festival bigger than before.

He added: “We’ve got a good programme starting to line up already, and we need local people to help us make it even better.”
