In January this year, the council warned that the effect of the cuts to benefits would be “huge” in Lambeth, forcing hundreds of families to move away.
Now that benefit reform has come into force, the Brixton Blog & Bugle will be hosting a public meeting for Lambeth residents on September 11 in Room 8 of the Town Hall at 7pm.
The panel will include Cllr Pete Robbins, cabinet member for housing, alongside Unite Community organiser Pilgrim Tucker and chair of Tenants Council Jennifer Thomas. Elizabeth Maytom, representing the Brixton and Norwood Foodbank, will also sit on the panel.
Residents will have the opportunity to question the panel and discuss what action can be taken to protect them from adverse effects of the bedroom tax, the benefit cap, and other benefit cuts.
