Part of Brixton Road was closed after a pedestrian was hit by a motorbike outside Marks and Spencer this evening.
Paramedics were seen treated a badly injured person in the road at 6.45pm this evening, and police closed the road to all traffic.
Shortly afterwards, at 7pm, two women were arrested and taken to hospital after an unrelated incident in Brixton tube station.
Eyewitness to the collision, Lyndsey Adams, told Brixton Blog: “A male pedestrian was knocked over by a man on a motorbike. I happened to be there and a few of us were able to help him. “Luckily an unmarked police car was right behind the bike with two detectives who were able immediately to give him first aid.” The road closure led to massive delays and buses backed up Brixton Hill as far as Christchurch Road. Although TfL report the road has now re-opened, traffic is slow in both directions. Jon Featonby tweeted the Blog to say: “Brixton High Street is currently a bus park. Entire road cordoned off under the bridge.” Brixton Hill councillor Alex Holland said on the website: “Traffic accident in #Brixton town centre backing-up buses and disrupting transport.
