The annual national Summer Reading Challenge is back at Brixton library and will continue until children go back to school.
The challenge is for children to read up to six books over the summer holidays in exchange for a certificate of taking part, special badges and a medal if they read all six books.
The challenge website helps children keep track of their reading all year round, find new books to read, take part in competitions and play games.
This year’s theme is “Animal Agents” and is all about code-cracking – stickers and a code-cracking pack are also on offer for participants.
Each time a child reads a library book, they can add it to their online profile and give it a rating. They can also share their thoughts about it in a review.
Find out more at the challenge website and keep an eye on the Lambeth council website along with Brixton library’s Facebook and Twitter pages.
If all that sounds fun, but you’re a bit too old to join in, you can be a volunteer helper if you are aged 13 to 24.
There will be lots of free and fun activities and events in Brixton library throughout the summer holidays, so “pop in, join up and find out what we’ve got going on”.
