Even more work is scheduled to take place at Brixton tube station this year.
Starting from March 9, TfL will be making changes to the ticket hall and the ticket windows will be permanently closed.
There is currently work going on the escalators which has caused massive overcrowding and will continue until the summer.
TfL says it is moving its staff to the ticket hall so they can assist “more effectively.”
The work is expected to last four weeks.
TfL says it will not affect the space in the ticket hall or the ticket machines.
The ticket offices at this station are rarely all open anyway, so not much change there then. Are they really expecting passengers to use the handfull of machines? The queues for them are long especially on a Monday morning and extend along the bottom of the stairs. Another well thought out idea by TFL. The ticket office was only moved across the hall during the extremely long refurbishment which lasted from c.2002 – c.2011 afew years ago and now it is being closed. Begs the question what was the point in the first place? As stated another well thought out idea!
How utterly disgraceful TFL are. If people had an inch of sense they would be complaining en masse about this. Of course TFL are waiting until April (end of the financial year) to adjust their accounts and see whether they can be bothered to spend a few pennies and repair the escalator. At any rate, even Amazonian tribes would be faster in fixing this. Ridiculous.
