Residents in leafy Josephine Avenue, Brixton, celebrated the start of summer yesterday with a ‘fabulous’ street party and feast on the national Big Lunch day.
Neighbours shared a giant picnic in the street before being entertained by live music as well as guitar lessons, a photo competition, bike workshops and a plant swap.
Music came from the band Led Balloon as well as The Two Pauls and the winner of the open mic competition, Aïcha.
Josephine Avenue Group chairman Tim Sutton said: “A big thank you to everyone who helped organise, to everyone who came and also to everyone who helped clear up. Looking forward to the Josephine Avenue Street Party 2015.”
