Pupils from Brixton’s Loughborough primary school joined local librarian, poet and gardener Oniel, and Lambeth tree service’s Poppy George to plant a cherry tree today (23 October) at Minet library to remember Benjamin Zephaniah.
They heard about Lambeth council’s plans to increase the borough’s tree cover and about the Benjamin Zephaniah’s life and poetry.
They read poems by him, including the topical Talking Turkey, and listened to Oniel recite his Trees Please.
