Lambeth council has made awards to long-serving school governor for the first time. Governors are all volunteers. Nearly 100 received a certificate and a plaque from the Mayor Ibrahim Dogus.
Cllr Jane Pickard, deputy cabinet member for schools and young people, said: “School governors play a hugely important role in the education of our young people and their voluntary efforts are hugely appreciated.”
Governors come from all walks of life and the council welcomes applications – find out more at http://bit.ly/LBL-schoolgov.
Prospective governors will be interviewed by a panel of current Chairs of Governors and are then put forward to any schools with vacancies.
