Lambeth council is updating its policy for regulating and licensing any business that sells alcohol, provides entertainment or late-night refreshments and has launched a public consultation which will run until Wednesday 24 October. To have your say visit www.lambeth.gov.uk/consultations.
Through the Licensing Policy, the Council sets out to promote the four licensing objectives of the Licensing Act 2003, which are: prevention of crime and disorder; public safety; prevention of public nuisance; protection of children from harm.
The council which is legally required to publish a new policy every five years said:
“We are making it simpler and easier to understand, and updating it based on people’s views and changes to the law.”
Existing premises licences are not affected unless a variation is being applied for or where a licence comes to review, in which case the new policy will apply.
