(sponsored blogpost) You might not see yourself as a high powered entrepreneur, but you may have a small dream of turning an idea or special skill into your own business. And the new year is a good time to make a start.
Hatch is a Brixton-based ‘enterprise incubator’, and since 2013 they have worked with over 400 entrepreneurs in Lambeth and neighbouring Southwark. They not only advise on how to launch a business but they also help existing businesses change up a gear, and help to troubleshoot any issues that may have caused startups to stall. Some of the Brixton businesses they have supported include the Brixton Soup Kitchen, Make Do and Mend (in Pop Brixton), Sensala creperie (in Brixton Village) and Snact.
There are three Hatch programmes starting in February but you don’t have to commit without meeting the team to find out more. Hatch are hosting two Info Nights at their community space 55East, East Street SE17 2DJ on 23 January and 7 February, where people can come chat and find out more about the programmes. If you are skint then there are a number of bursaries on offer so it is worth going to see them. The three programmes are tailored to suit businesses at their various stages of development :
- Launchpad programme: designed for those at the idea stage. It is suitable for individuals aged 18-30 who already have an idea and are looking to gain clarity on it and define their next steps. Application deadline: February 14th
- Social Enterprise Incubator: ideal growth engine for an early stage social enterprise or charity that is looking to grow sustainably. Application deadline: February 9th
- Female Founders Accelerator: training programme designed specifically for women entrepreneurs with established businesses, who are looking to accelerate their venture by receiving personal attention and expert guidance. Application deadline: February 9th
