Hatch Enterprise, the Brixton-based community enterprise charity has launched a crowdfunding campaign.
Chief Executive Dirk Bischof says: “We are raising £20,000 to launch 55 East, our new community enterprise hub on one of south London’s historic markets streets, East Street. The funds will help with costs of running open access enterprise programmes for local people who want to test out their business ideas. The funds will also go towards employing a Change Please barista, who has already been on a 6-month training programme and is ready to find work locally”.

Hatch Enterprise, has been given three unused shops, by Peabody Trust, which are located at 53-63 East Street. If the fundraising is successful it will create affordable co-working space, an event and retail hub and a community run café.
Bischof says: “The Hub will become a vibrant space for people to get support with both new and existing enterprises, try out pop-up concepts and participate in the diverse events and activities going on within it. Historically, the market has served as a lifeline to the community, an asset we strive to emulate through our community-facing services and opportunities.
“We are going all out to raise the first £8,000 by Friday 10 November. There are three ways to support the campaign. You can pledge and get yourself a great perk while helping a worthy cause. You can spread the word by telling your colleagues. You can spread our message by sharing the posts pinned on our Facebook or Twitter Pages.
