Network Rail or Brixton resident Claudine Adeyemi – who would you vote to recognise as a Digital Leader?

They are both among the 100 people and organisations to have made it into the Digital Leaders’ DL100 list for 2017.

The list recognises leadership in “long-term digital transformation” in the private and public sectors.

Claudine founded The Student Development Company that provides career-related support to young people from less privileged background in January 2014. It is a non-profit organisation that she runs on a voluntary basis with a team of young volunteers. A former Young Entrepreneur of the Year in the Precious Awards, she was also shortlisted in last year’s Black British Business Awards.

The Student Development Company’s mobile app Career Ear is the UK’s first Q&A careers advice platform of its kind. It allows young people to ask current professionals questions about their careers and experiences. It is shortlisted in the Mobile Innovation of the Year category of the DL100.

The 100 finalists on the list are competing for public votes in one of 10 categories. The list includes 50 private sector, 29 public sector and 20 non-profit individuals and organisations. Companies featured include Network Rail, the Department for Work and Pensions, Seedrs and Lloyds Bank.

Claudine, who by day is a property lawyer at Mishcon de Reya, said: “We are extremely excited about this achievement. It is a testament to the incredibly hard work of our entire team of volunteers.

“Our underlying goal is to help as many young people as we can. Career Ear enables us to do this in a more creative, modern way and it is fantastic that our innovative solution has been recognised by Digital Leaders.

“It is also important to me that young, female and BAME people with an ability to have an impact on digital transformation in the UK in the coming years are included in this list and in the conversations that are taking place. I hope that I can be a visible role model to others.”

Winners will be announced  on 22 June.
