“Love is Power” is the theme for this year’s Brixton Design Trail – part of the London Design Festival – taking place from 16 to 24 September. The theme was announced at the launch party held at Brixton East last night (23 March).
Organiser Binki Taylor said the Design Trail “is a free platform to showcase home grown talent. A week-long cultural takeover of public space, venues, businesses, shops and alleyways”.

This year’s Trail is sponsored by the Brixton Business Improvement District (BID) and Lambeth council. Architectural firm Squires, which provided the hoardings for the street gallery in previous years, will continue to support and offer space in its new offices in the Department Store – opposite Bon Marché.
Trail organisers plan to engage the local community with installations, exhibitions and events by resident artists, designers and creative organisations in public spaces and businesses all over the town centre.
Brixton Design Trail wants to hear from community groups, schools and local businesses that would like to take part. You can register from next week on the website.
The emerging programme includes events at the Black Cultural Archives, Pop Brixton, Windrush Square and Brixton Village market.
