Brixton National Childbirth Trust have set up a weekly breastfeeding cafe where mums can drop in for free support and information from qualified NCT breastfeeding counsellors. There is only one NHS milk spots in Brixton – so a real lack of support for Brixton mums which NCT is hoping to fill. Everyone is welcome – it’s at Effra Space, 21 Effra Parade SW2 1PX, Wednesdays from 12:45-2:45pm.
FRI 29 & SAT 30 @ WINDRUSH SQ
Brixton Night Market returns: created to support local traders and street traders, in particular food stalls who are finding it difficult to get pitches in the many markets operating in Lambeth at the moment. Filled with street food, drinks, arts and crafts, the market hopes to help support the local economy, promote culturally diverse food products to all the community and wrap it up with some home grown entertainment. 5pm to 11pm.
SAT 30 @ POP BRIXTON
Queen of the Harpies, an independent clothing boutique in Brixton are hosting a fashion event alongside online brand Elsie and Fred this summer. There will be a mix of independent labels, hand crafted accessories and vintage to choose from. Add to the mix a DJ, Live art demos, body art and plenty of street food. Free. 11am to 5pm.

9-piece brass band Riot Jazz come to Brixton for a live twisted mix of funk, soul, hiphop and aggressive jazz. From £10. 7pm to 5am.
SUN 31 @ RITZY
For this month’s summer special at Upstairs at the Ritzy, make some papier mâché gems. Olivia will be experimenting with jewellery design in a very raw and recycled fashion – think asymmetric earrings, tribal pendants, Celtic cuffs and bangles. Add in a splash of colour with finely painted silver and gold acrylic accents. The sessions are family friendly so bring along the whole gang. Free, donations welcome. 2pm – 6pm.
