The Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) has begun an investigation into the use of a taser on a man arrested after he had been pulled over while driving in Brixton and are appealing for witnesses.
Metropolitan police officers twice used a taser on the 23-year-old during the incident in Atlantic Road near the junction with Saltoun Road at 10.30am on Friday 14 February 2014.
The man’s complaint was first investigated by the Met. He appealed to the IPCC. After reviewing the appeal, the IPCC has begun an investigation.
IPCC commissioner Cindy Butts said: “We will conduct a thorough investigation into the circumstances of this incident and whether the use of taser by officers was appropriate.”
Anyone who witnessed this incident should contact the IPCC on 020 7166 4010 or email bola.olayinka@ipcc.gsi.gov.uk.
