Community organisations can apply for grants from Age UK Lambeth to run events over the winter for older people. The deadline is 20 November and they can apply by contacting Claire Double for an application or calling 0207 346 6800
Age UK Lambeth is running a warm and well campaign for older people this winter, supported by the council and the NHS in Lambeth. The campaign focus is on reaching vulnerable older residents and sharing tips on staying warm and places to ask for help. The charity is encouraging people to become Winter Warmer volunteers or befrienders.
Winter warmer packs provide information on grants, advice on how to stay warm and keep the bills low, contact details for support services, and tips on staying healthy.
The charity is also running a “Big Knit” campaign to create blankets to give to older people. If you’re a knitter, send your six inch squares to Age UK Lambeth whose volunteers will stitch up the blankets.
If you know of a carer, older or disabled adult who would benefit from more support over winter, Age UK Lambeth will put people in touch with services that can help. You can get a form by telephoning or emailing the charity direct. Telephone: 020 7346 6800 or email.
