Youth-led media channel FBB TV has showcased its first football-themed feature following its official launch on Youtube. Play-off hopefuls Dulwich Hamlet were the focus of the film presented by FBB TV reporter Matthew Young.
Matthew, who is a member of a schools project run by the South London-based charity Football Beyond Borders, was granted permission to film behind-the-scenes at the club’s Champion Hill stadium. His report features a series of interviews with Pink and Blues fans, staff and players, and explores some of the reasons behind the club’s growing popularity.
“Dulwich was a great experience, for a semi-pro team they know how to make noise! It was nice to meet such friendly people – even if they were 3-0 down they would always smile and laugh”, says Matthew.
“They have supporters like no other club, they shout for the team and sing songs non-stop. I am lucky filming with FBB TV because I meet so many fun and interesting people. It has been a great experience going to Dulwich and I would love to go again!”
Claudia Jukes, Dulwich Hamlet’s Head of Sponsorship said the club was “over the moon” to feature in the film produced by Football Beyond Borders, with backing from the Fans for Diversity fund.
“We now have an amazing, unique short film showcasing what makes following Dulwich Hamlet such an uplifting experience”, says Ms Jukes. “Hopefully via FBB TV we can encourage and inspire young people to achieve their goals, both on and off the pitch.”
Football Beyond Borders, the charity behind a £7,500 crowdfunding campaign that led to the establishment of FBB TV, welcomed the film’s focus on the Dulwich.
“We were keen to document their unique story as a non-league club that has grown its support base rapidly in recent years by engaging with the local community and making tickets affordable for young people and families”, says Tom Perez, Head of Communications at Football Beyond Borders. “The club and the Supporters Trust have been brilliant with us – introducing us to the manager and to the supporters to arrange interviews for the film.”
