A man has been jailed for five years after a sub-machine gun was found at his home.
Lambeth police seized a Scorpion sub-machine gun, a magazine of ammunition and a silencer from the Penge home of Arjuna Pookraj, 28.
The initial search took place on Electric Lane, when patrolling officers from the Lambeth Safer Neighbourhood Team passed a car with three men inside smelling strongly of cannabis.
Officers searched the men and found cannabis, a number of bank cards – believed stolen – as well as £4000 cash.
Two of the men, including Pookraj, were arrested and a number of addresses were searched. Police found the weapon behind the curtains in Pookraj’s bedroom.
Appearing at the Inner London Crown Court on January 26, Pookraj was jailed for five years for possession of a prohibited firearm, prohibited ammunition, a firearm without a certificate and possession of cannabis
