This Friday at 6.30pm The Roles We Play: Recognising the Contribution of People in Poverty, a new book of striking portraits, launches at 198 Contemporary Arts and Learning as the corresponding exhibition opens.
The book and exhibition has been a collaboration between charity ATD Fourth World and photographer Eva Sajovic. The launch event will feature interactive video and photo booths to give you the opportunity to be part of the project, and pop-up talks from Eva Sajovic, project participants and the ATD Fourth World team. Refreshments and copies of the book will also be available.
This exhibition and book features portraits and self-written biographies exploring the roles played by those living in poverty within their families, communities and society. The Roles We Play: Recognising the Contribution of People in Poverty highlights their efforts, validates their achievements and challenges the negative attitudes often held towards vulnerable and excluded families in the UK.
The launch event and exhibition are free to attend. Check out the event Facebook page here.
