This Friday night is sadly the last Windmill residency gig for local band Poeticat. Catherine Martindale of the band has been writing a series of guest posts for us about their wacky nights, and lets us know what’s in store for the big finale…
Hello Brixton!
Well, I can’t believe it’s happened so fast! We’ve come to the end of our Windmill Brixton residency! It doesn’t mean the end for our #PoeticatRes or the end of Poeticat playing the Windmill. We love the venue and it will always be our home but for the official Arts Council supported residency to promote spoken word and music in Brixton it will be the end.
So this Friday it is vital that you join us for ‘Welcome to the Third Arm’; our final instalment of residency performances. We’ve curated some stonkers for you to go out with a bang and we’ve got a couple of surprises coming up too!
Poeticat will be bringing our residency at The Windmill to an end in rip-roaring fashion! Not only will we be launching our new single ‘3rd Arm’ (click here for a free download) but we’ll also have an exclusive, private showing of the music video in The Shed! The grande finale will feature live music from:
- Poeticat – progressive, experimental rock with punk attitude
- Gemma Rogers & The Mill Men – musical storytelling with a twist of lemon
- Miss Roberts & The Rude Mechanicals – avant-garde punk cabaret
- Samuel Geronimo Deschamps – solo set from La Shark frontman
- Totem – Minimalist drones and sardonic monotones from this trio with a single out on Moshi Moshi Records.
We’re also go a DJ set from the hip-hop legend Heri Spik plus as always a free bottle of Prosecco to be won, and since our video is in superhero fashion there will be the stars of the video in full costume!
For those of you who like childish things like us there will be popcorn in the shed cinema and stickers with our 3rd Arm logo. Also from 6:30-7:30 there will be two lovely ladies round #Brixton giving out fliers so if you wanna save £1 (and who doesn’t!) then look out for them. Also if you tweet or Facebook us a photo of you with one of the posters (there are 50 round Brixton) you get your name on the door for free entry so there’s a bit of a treasure hunt for you too!
The Windmill Brixton, 22 Blenheim Gardens, SW2 5BZ, Friday 28th of Feb, 7.30pm £3 with flyer, £4 on the door. Visit our Facebook Event to find out more: http://on.fb.me/LHGt3R
