A man who robbed and sexually assaulted a 23-year-old woman after breaking into her Forest Hill home was found guilty yesterday after police tracked him down and arrested him on board a bus at Brixton Hill.
Police used a phone app to find Raymond Yates, 31, of no fixed abode. Yates had climbed through an open window at the victim’s address in Forest Hill to carry out a “harrowing attack”, in which he sexually assaulted the woman.
Raymond Yates was convicted of robbery, sexual assault and trespass with intent to commit a sexual offence following a trial at Woolwich Crown Court. He will be sentenced on January 28.
Detective Constable Corrado Di Mascio of the Met’s Sapphire Unit said: “”This was a particularly harrowing attack on a lone woman while she slept in her bed at home.”
Anyone who believes they may have been a victim of Raymond Yates is asked to call the Met on 020 8721 4678.
