BRIX PICKS: August 5th – 11th

    Monday: A theatre company is putting on a production of Hamlet set in Brixton. The open-air play will be performed in the market traders’ car park in the centre of town at 7:30pm every Monday and Sunday through August (excluding August 25). £10 for floor tickets and £15 for seating.     Tuesday: Take the kids along to the Alice in the Walled Garden performance today at 11:30am or 2pm. Sixteen-feet Productions have recreated the magical world of Alice in Wonderland in Brockwell Park’s walled gardens. Tickets £7.50 – £10.50.

    Wednesday: Join Hootananny’s monthly live band karaoke. 9pm onwards, free all night.

    Thursday: Attend the launch of Inside Out, Photofusion’s new exhibition featuring two photographers from the Tri-pod initiative.

    Friday: Take any spare food you have along to Brixton Foodbank at St Paul’s Church. See norwoodbrixton.foodbank.org.uk for more info.

    Saturday: Every Saturday throughout August (starting August 3), Anjela Smith is running free drama sessions for 11-15 year-olds at the Minet Library. With only 10 spaces available, you must ring to book:  0207 926 6073.

    Sunday: Brixton Blog, Marmalade Productions and The Ritzy have come together to bring you Uncle Steadman, a documentary about much-loved local coach Steadman Scott and his club Afewee. Tickets are available from the Ritzy website. The film starts at 5:30pm with a Q&A and Meet Brixton drinks afterwards.
