Traders from Brixton’s covered market feature in the latest party political broadcast from the Labour Party.
The video, released today, features people from Granville Arcade and Market Row going around their daily business.
In the broadcast (below), party leader Ed Miliband says: “We can turn Britain round, but only if we have a recovery made by the many – the people who have put in the hours, who do the shifts, the people who open their shops early in the morning. The people who look after our kids, care for the elderly, who tend to the sick.
“You need a government that really looks out for you and if we were in government now we would be cancelling that millionaires’ tax cut and protecting the tax credits that make work pay.”
The video is due to be broadcast on national television tomorrow evening.
It would be very foolish indeed to fall for the mindless rhetoric of a politician seeking power, or one seeking re-election, a bit of a quandry.
From what I have seen, I would not hold Lambeth Council (see Brixton Market featured in the video) as a great supporter of local business (unless it it to their political advantage). Perhaps the multiples are easier to deal with, have more money and better lawyers?
