Brixton Tube station has now reopened following a person under a train earlier.
There are still severe delays on the entire Victoria Line, and traffic jams on Brixton Road stretch as far as Streatham Hill.
Gates were closed at about 8.40am this morning following the incident, and ambulance, fire service and the police were on scene.
Angela Wolff, who was on the platform at the time of the incident, said: “Someone went under the train just as I turned onto the platform.
“Still feel like I’m in shock and I didn’t even see anything. Just heard the bang and screams and a sea of shocked pale faces.”
Traffic chaos ensued above ground as emergency vehicles blocked Brixton Road, a bus broke down and thousands of commuters clambered to get on a bus.
