Travel problems in Brixton caused by a person under a Tube train have been compounded by a broken down bus on Brixton Road, outside the station.
Brixton Tube is still closed this morning as emergency services deal with a “person under a train” at the station.
Gates were closed at about 8.40am this morning following the incident, and ambulance, fire service and the police are on scene.
The Victoria Line is suspended between Brixton and Victoria, with severe delays on the rest of the line. Tickets are accepted on trains from Brixton train station, with trains to Victoria every 15 minutes.
Commuters are advised to take the train, or walk to Stockwell Tube Station for the Northern Line, as buses are struggling to cope with the closure.
A spokesperson for Transport for London (TfL) said emergency vehicles on Brixton Road were blocking the way. They added: “As a result there is alternate traffic flow at Atlantic Road as large oncoming vehicles are unable to pass due to the restricted road space.
“Traffic is slow moving in both directions on Brixton Road with northbound tailbacks to Streatham Hill and southbound tailbacks to Villa Road. Expect long delays in the area and use an alternative route where possible.”
