A man who crashed a stolen motorbike while being chased by police has been arrested.
Cops were pursuing the motorcycle when it was involved in the collision in Railton Road, Herne Hill at about 6pm yesterday (Tuesday).
The rider fled from the scene before being arrested by officers in a nearby bar.
Staff at the Florence pub, in Dulwich Road, near to the scene, said on Twitter: “Bike was nicked and being chased by police when they came off we believe.”
Asked if the rider was injured they replied: “Not badly enough to try and scarper. They caught them though.”
Police officers on patrol began following the man in Norwood Road, Herne Hill, when he made off towards Brockwell Park. He then turned into Railton Road before coming off the bike close to Herne Hill rail station.
A spokesman for Lambeth police confirmed today: “A 19 year old man was arrested for failing to stop, aggravated vehicle taking and possession of drugs with intent to supply.
