Regular readers will know that we seem to be covering the closure of a lot of businesses right now so there’s been some worry amongst locals as to why the Wing Tai supermarket on Electric Avenue is closed right now.
We’re not sure if it’s a harbinger of more food related doom or the owners have gone on holiday and not stuck a note on the shutters. I seem to remember them closing for a while last year around the same time which keeps my optimism alive. Can anyone recall if I’m right?
I do hope they haven’t suffered the same fate as the Camberwell branch which became a Costa a few years ago. Has anyone heard anything from the staff or on the market grapevine? I’ve been drawing a blank and it’d be good to know if I need to find somewhere else to stock up on noodles.
We’ll keep you posted if we hear anything or it opens again. As one of the few independent places that opens later than 5pm, it would be a shame to see it go.
Veryworrying, it’s now been a week with it closed, I hope we hear good news….
