Brixton businesses and residents with a need for speed from internet connections that are among the slowest in London are invited to a drop-in event in the Assembly Hall at Lambeth town hall.
G.Network – a new telecoms provider delivering full-fibre broadband in London – is planning to bring it to Coldharbour and Brixton Hill wards throughout this year.
The event – between noon and 8pm on Tuesday 3 March – will provide information about the installation process and when it is due on your street. There is no need to book.
The differences between “full fibre” broadband and and existing copper cabling will also be explained.
You can register with G.Network to be kept up to date with its plans.
The company says that average broadband speeds in Lambeth are among the slowest in London at around 46 megabits per second (Mbps).
In Brixton Hill, it says, only 8.6% of residents can access upgraded “full fibre” connections; in Coldharbour – which covers central Brixton and its planned and expanding office workplaces – the figure is only 4.3%.
About time. Apparently it only took one objection for NTL to not put in broadband in a street. How short sighted was that.
