Local families, notables and celebrities packed into Brixton’s Ebony Horse Club yesterday to meet club president Camilla, the Duchess of Cornwall, and to watch displays by its young members.
Natasha Williams, 19, who escorted the Duchess around the club, explained how it is not only a successful jumping off point for people wanting to work with horses and in similar industries, but a centre for all local young people to visit and enjoy – even if they do not want to ride.
Natasha started learning to ride at Ebony from the age of 14 and is now studying for a BSc in equine performance and business management at Writtle University College near Chelmsford in Essex.

2017 marks the 21st anniversary of the foundation of the club in 1996 when five children from the Moorlands estate went for a first riding lesson. Now the centre teaches 400 local children and young people to ride each year.
The duchess also took part in the opening of the club’s centre on Wyck Gardens in October 2011.
