Brixton Splash has been awarded a £400 grant to stage an event in collaboration with Our Big Gig on Sunday July 13.
The event will be held in a central Brixton music venue at 4pm, as part of the nationwide Our Big Gig celebrations taking place between July 11-13.
Brixton Splash has been chosen as one of 150 event organisers from across the country to run a community music event.
Last summer, over 200,000 people attended Our Big Gig events, with almost 15,000 performers taking part.
Jo Birch-Phaure, communications manager of UK Youth, said: “We’re really excited to be able to take part in Our Big Gig, and do something that will enable us to be even more creative and find more ways for members of the community to get involved with music.”
Brixton Splash will also take place on Sunday August 3rd from 12-7pm, and will include a main stage on Windrush Square.
Applications to perform at the festival must be submitted by May 31st, and food and craft traders are requested to apply as soon as possible.
