The play’s the thing* on Thursday 24 April at Dulwich Hamlet’s Champion Hill stadium when professional actors perform Shakespeare’s Hamlet there.
After a 10-week tour of the United States, the professional production will be performed for one night only at 7.30pm.
Funds from the performance will be donated to Dulwich Hamlet’s Freundschaft Centenary tour to Altona 93 in July this year.
Encompassing both profound beauty and fathomless despair, Shakespeare’s world famous tragedy will evoke emotions familiar to anyone who supports Dulwich Hamlet FC, say the organisers.
Legendary theatre company Actors From The London Stage, founded at the University of California by Sir Patrick Stewart, among others, and now based at Shakespeare at Notre Dame, Indiana, will perform the play. The company is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year.
Touring the US twice yearly, the company’s five-actor touring and teaching model features week-long residencies at universities across the States.

Tickets for Hamlet At The Hamlet are £15 for adults and £10 for concessions, and under 18s are welcome.
The performance will be in Dulwich Hamlet FC’s recently refurbished upstairs space, which is already home to the club’s popular Dulwich Hamlet Comedy Club and music nights.
Get your tickets now as the one-off performance is expected to be hugely popular.

In July 2025, Dulwich Hamlet FC’s men’s team will travel to Hamburg to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the first time they played Altonaer FC von 1893 (Altona 93) in 1925.
In recent years, fans of both clubs have developed a warm friendship (or ‘Freundschaft’ in German) after a chance meeting between the late Mishi Morath and Altona 93 fan Jan Stover at Altona 93’s Adolf-Jäger-Kampfbahn ground.
Dulwich Hamlet previously travelled to play Altona 93 in 2018, while the Hamburg-based side travelled to play a pre-seaon game at Champion Hill in 2024. Outside of these official trips, fans of both clubs regularly travel between countries to watch and support both teams.
