BodyParts – the new show by Solo One

BodyParts at East London’s stolenspace gallery, is a unique collection of works by Solo One – a stalwart of the London graffiti scene for over 30 years and director of the renowned Stockwell Hall of Fame.

Through 2024 Solo One worked with racing driver Oscar Joyce and DW Racing to create over 40 pieces of artwork created from car body parts destined for the scrap heap. They have been rescued and brought back to life as pieces of art with racing stories.

Although the work reflects many familiar graffiti images – bold colours, lettering, geometric flashes, urban landscapes and so on – this is the first time that Solo One has not worked on a flat plane, usually a wall. The result takes graffiti to a different level. Suspended from the ceiling  and leaning out from the walls these works are pieces of sculpture which also tell a story about the life of a racing car. The overall effect is lighthearted, witty and joyful.

The collection was created at iconic race tracks across the UK such as Silverstone, Oulton Park, Donnington and Snetterton through the summer of 2024.

Solo One “The work for the BodyParts collection is a continuation of the freestyle graffiti I have been working on over the last 10 years. The work is fast in execution and aims to reimagine how motorsport looks”.
