The London Mural Festival, which ran from 5 to 29 September, produced 140 permanent public murals across the city.
A significant proportion of them are in and around Brixton, including the outstanding A Lasting Place by Sebas Velasco at Cobett Street on the South Lambeth estate which was used to launch the festival.
More than 300 artists worked to produce the murals, using over 10,000 cans of paint.
Festival artists also painted the highest number of Art for Estates murals in one go – boosting Global Street Art’s long-running programme which produces free murals in housing estates.
Seven Lambeth council estates were involved in the project and the artists taking part were often welcomed into residents’ homes to enjoy refreshments.
Each mural tells its own story, often celebrating Lambeth’s rich and diverse cultural history with contemporary messages and adding to its reputation as a home of murals.
