A Brixton independent bookshop has won the Booker Prize Foundation’s competition for independent booksellers.
Round Table Books, an inclusion-led bookshop in Brixton Village, was one of six winners of the inaugural Booker Prize Indie Bookshop Spotlight Competition.
It was chosen from applications from across the UK and Ireland by shops selling the prize’s nominated books.
Round Table started as a pop-up in 2018 and now champions under-represented authors and literary creatives, stocking titles for children and adults, including those amplifying LGBTQIA+ and disabled people’s voices.
To enter the competition, shops assembled displays of Booker Prize nominated titles in-store and shared images of them on their socials.
