The Grove Adventure Playground in Brixton has organised a month-long “Blackstory” project.
Any Lambeth resident, of any generation, but particularly local to the playground at Gordon Grove, SE5 9DT, is invited to come and fix any article to a giant wall celebrating Black culture, local or global, historic or present-day.
The three-metre-high, 20-metre-long wall and can accommodate almost anything.
Grove suggests pictures, newspaper articles, graffiti, clothing, sports stars, sculpture, record covers, cassettes – “just about anything that has a meaning to the contributor”.
To fix an item of your choosing to the wall, contact the playground on 07753 447401 or email groveapg@gmail.com.
The project will run until Sunday 31 October – taking in next week’s half term. Find out more about it on the playground’s new website.
On Friday 29 October the Grove will play host to a family Halloween event including a macabre tour of the haunted playground in company with the Gruesome Grove Players.
Visitors can get rid of the chills round a camp fire with music and warming food and drink for just £1.
The event runs from 2 to 6pm.
