Brixton summer art workshops for kids

Child's hands with clay

A Brixton railway arch will house an art club for six to 10 year olds next month.

Art educator Jess Nash will run the Opo workshop at 504 Ridgeway Road on Fridays during August.

The aim of the club will be to encourage kids who do not have the opportunity to make art regularly to have fun learning a different material each week. rather than just painting or drawing.

Each week’s activity will also combat a common misconception about art.

Workshops will be run by expert illustrators, sculptors and makers and explore unexpected ways to express individual ideas and rethink what “art” is.

There will be two session slots available for each week – from 1 to 2pm and from 2.30-3.30pm.

The workshops are suitable for children aged six to 10 and cost £4 per session, payable at the beginning of each session.
