There were no soggy doggies this weekend as rain stayed away for Brockwell Park’s first ever community dog show.
On Sunday July 12 hundreds gathered to watch the event, which was run entirely by dog walking volunteers.
97 dogs were entered and they fought it out in categories ranging from Cutest Puppy to Dog’s Got Talent.
The winner of Golden Oldie, Fly, was 18 years old.
The fancy dress was a Tudor theme – Woof Hall – after the popular BBC series Wolf Hall which judge Mark Rylance starred in. The winner was a Scottie dressed as Cardinal Wolsey.
Rylance’s fellow judges were actress Trudi Goodwin, Elaine Partleton who runs the Flower Lady in Herne Hill and Brixton Blog‘s co-editor Tim Dickens.
“It was an incredible doggy day – where fun was had by all,” said Dickens. “The judges were blown away by the quality of the entries – especially the skills on show for Britain’s Got (no) Talent. It’s testament to the Brixton and Herne Hill community spirit that the show was saved by hard-working volunteers. Special thanks to Rory, Rachel and Lily!”
