A new monthly club night is coming to Electric Brixton. ‘Electric Monkey’ is organised by XFM DJ Mazin Tappuni in association with XFM, Propaganda (major indie club night promoter) and indie record label Communion, and kicks off on 31st May.
“It’s going to be a lot of fun,” says Mazin, “lots of great bands will be gracing the stage and playing some of the best new alternative indie hits, with some classic party tunes thrown into the mix too.”
Indie darlings Bombay Bicycle Club and dark pop band The Horrors are DJing on the first night, so the playlist is in their hands. Mazin is also hoping to add another big name to the bill.
So why did Mazin feel the need to bring Propaganda’s well-known alternative indie feel to Brixton? “Brixton has a great scene with venues like the Academy, Windmill and the Jamm,” says Mazin, “However, it lacks decent club nights. I’ve always found myself trying to find a good night out past 11pm and either ending up at a very overcrowded Mango Landin’ or Hootenanny. Don’t get me wrong, those venues are great but Electric Monkey at the Brixton Electric will bring a totally different type of night to Brixton.”
Advance tickets are £8 and it’s £10 on the door. There will be drinks deals available too.
