Brixton Market has always been a noisy, vibrant sort of place. And it’s also known today for religious groups fervently spreading their message.
As this archive video, uploaded to Youtube today shows, it was equally lively back in 1964. This film shows a Salvation Army band with guitars and “not a trombone in sight” playing their Hit Parade number “It’s an Open Secret” to a receptive crowd of Brixtonites.
