Our second advent calendar offering comes from Jayne Schofield (with some very nice words about us at the end – unsolicited!)
What’s so great about Brixton?
By Jayne Schofield
For a start off it’s central, it’s where you must be
You’ll find us alright on the A23
The Victoria line takes you straight into town
And we’ve got Chukka, our gorgeous MP.
There’s history in Brixton, just like Windrush Square
Named after the ship that brought settlers there
To our vibrant community, rich and diverse
Welcoming, friendly, it’s really quite rare.
There’s plenty to do in SW2
The Academy, Ritzy to name only two
We’ve a Fridge that is hot and an ice rink that’s not
Or a swim in the Lido which makes you turn blue.
We’ve got our own windmill, just up the hill
Not far from the prison, quite scary but still
The bad boys are baking and selling their cakes
They are finding new ways of making a kill.
Down town there’s our Village, a top destination
Best coffee in London served at Federation
There’s bakeries, artists, fish shops and clothes
Colours and flavours from every nation.
Then there’s the Bugle, it’s so very cool
Has the measure of Brixton just right, as a rule
And the Blog captures all that we locals should know
Thanks to Tim and to Zoe, the brightest of Jewels.
We are a gaggle of volunteers and opening a brand new scheme in our community.
Your web site provided us with valuable information to work on. You’ve done
an impressive activity and our whole community will likely
be grateful to you.
I’m gone to tell my little brother, that he should also
pay a visit this web site on regular basis to take updated from
most up-to-date reports.
Very nice post. I just stumbled upon your weblog
and wished to say that I have truly enjoyed surfing around your blog
posts. After all I’ll be subscribing to your rss feed and I hope you write again
very soon!
Fantastic blog! Do you have any helpful hints for aspiring writers?
I’m hoping to start my own site soon but I’m a little lost
on everything. Would you advise starting with a free platform like WordPress or go for a paid option?
There are so many choices out there that I’m totally overwhelmed ..
Any suggestions? Bless you!
I don’t even know how I ended up here, but I thought this post
was good. I don’t know who you are but certainly you are
going to a famous blogger if you are not already 😉 Cheers!
